Evolution
Staying One Step Ahead
As e-business develops, it will change most of our business processes - with customers, suppliers and third
parties. The goal will be to maximise revenues through new channels, reduce costs, increase order transaction
speed and simplify or eliminate non value adding processes - ultimately enhancing profitability.
GSC Consulting can help you create a robust business strategy for the future, evolving your business into an
e-business. Our "Evolution" model will be the process that many companies follow over the next few years.
Many multi-nationals have already started the "Evolution" process, implementing Enterprise Resource Planning
(ERP) systems. They have standardised internal business systems, processes and procedures, positioning them well to
optimise external processes with customers and suppliers.
As customer order speed and volumes are increased by e-commerce, the replenishment side of the supply chain will need
to become more responsive and agile. This can only happen where businesses build supply chain management systems that are
also web-enabled. This enabling technology is commonly known as e-chain. E-chain will permit warehouse and
transportation providers to quickly enter changes to critical delivery information, optimising the flow of products
between the supplier and customer. The supply chain will become more agile as more information becomes available, leading
to more efficient management and cost elimination opportunities.
There is no simple solution to external integration, but Internet Technology is now dramatically re-arranging our
commercial landscape. The infrastructure boundaries that have existed for decades are being removed, encouraging rapid
growth in integration opportunities, which is changing the way we do business.
The area that will change most significantly during 2000 will be the business to business (B2B) Internet trading
markets. GSC Consulting will be providing guidance and services to these developing e-communities.
